KARIN SLAUGHTER BOOKS INTO MOVIESĭespite being best sellers, no Grant County Series books were turned into novels. It is also important to note that Karin Slaughter won many other awards as a journalist. In addition, Beyond Reach and Fractured have each won the Silver Fingerprint Award in The Netherlands for Best Foreign Thriller. Pretty Girls also won the People’s Choice Awards in the Crime and Mystery Category, 2015 Edition. In 2003, she received The Reviewer’s Award for “A Faint Cold Fear” from the Romantic Times. Will, along with his partner, Faith Mitchell, uncover a sadistic killer and along with the help of Sara Linton, must stop this killer before the list of victims grows even further. Undone brings the character of Sara Linton from the Grant County series into the world of Will Trent in Atlanta, Georgia. Slaughter then combined her two worlds, involving Will Trent in the Grant County series of novels, starting with the book Undone. Ormewood must work past his dislike of Trent to stop a series of murders from continuing, while also dealing with a history that doesn’t seem to go away. During the course of the investigation, Detective Ormewood has to work with Special Agent Will Trent, who is called in to help with the case. Triptych deals with a murder in the city of Atlanta being investigated by Detective Michael Ormewood. Will Trent was a later creation for Karin Slaughter, and he made his first appearance in the novel Triptych in 2006. Blindsighted sets the trend for the Grant County series in that it deals a lot with pathology and forensics as well as criminal procedure, so for fans of that style of writing, it is perfect. From there, the killer continues to strike and it’s down to Linton, Tolliver and Adams to catch them before they strike again. The story of Blindsighted revolves around the death of a blind chemist whom Linton stumbles across while out for lunch. Blindsighted features the characters Sara Linton, paediatrician and coroner, as well as her ex-husband and Chief of Police, Jeffrey Tolliver and Heartsdale’s sole female detective Lena Adams. It was after starting her sign business that Slaughter changed tack and went down the path of becoming an author, with her first novel, Blindsighted, being released in 2001.īlindsighted, being Karin Slaughter’s first book, was also the first book to feature the fictional town of Heartsdale and, therefore, also the first to feature the fictional Grant County, which became the setting her first five books.
